Pre-School Cook

Position Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week) or Part-Time (30 hours/week)

We believe that nutritious meals are a cornerstone of healthy development, and we’re seeking a passionate Preschool Cook to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Preschool Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks to children aged 2-12. This role requires a love for cooking, reliability, cleanliness, organization, and a genuine enjoyment of working around children.

Key Responsibilities:

• Meal Preparation: Plan, prepare, and cook balanced meals and snacks that meet nutritional guidelines and accommodate dietary restrictions.

• Menu Planning: Develop weekly menus that reflect all dietary requirements and work with the administration team for approval.

• Food Service: Serve meals to each classroom on time, at the appropriate temperature, and in appropriate portions.

• Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of food and supplies, make weekly orders through vendors, and ensure proper storage and labeling.

• Kitchen Maintenance: Keep the kitchen and all food storage areas clean and organized, including washing and sanitizing dishes, cleaning appliances, and removing trash daily.

• Compliance: Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines, including maintaining daily production reports and ensuring all food items are checked for expiration dates.

• Collaboration: Work closely with staff to collect meal numbers before food preparation and adjust menus as needed to meet children’s needs.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in food planning, preparation, and service, preferably in a childcare or educational setting.

• Education: High school diploma or GED; culinary training or certification is a plus.

• Skills:

• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Knowledge of USDA nutritional guidelines for children.

• Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

• Perform tasks that involve bending, lifting, and reaching.
