Landscape Construction Foreman

Candidates should meet the following qualifications

  • Min. 5 years experience in all phases of residential landscape installation.
  • Excellent communication skills with workers, clients, subcontractors.
  • 2A/1C hydraulics license or capability /willingness to obtain.
  • Capable of operating track machine, dingo, excavator
  • Knowledge of nursery stock, landscape, irrigation and masonry materials.
  • Experience in reading scaled plans, setting grades.
  • Ability to install jobs from start to finish with very little supervision or direction.
  • Willing to train others and grow with a small business.
  • Valid driver's license required (CDL a plus).
  • Willingness to learn, train, supervise and direct other crew members.
  • Willingness to accept change and adapt to a fast paced work environment.
  • Willingness & ability to work with others and manage difficult situations.
  • Accepts constructive criticism for the benefit of all.
  • Ability to execute job processes with a high degree of efficiency free of errors.
  • Knows quality work and understands construction techniques
  • Respect of equipment, fellow employees, etc.
  • Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions, snow removal, salting.

Performance Standard: A foreman is responsible for leading a project from its inception to execution with very little oversight and direction from upper management. This includes planning, job execution, managing crew, resources and complete understanding of the scope of the project. This key staff member must be efficient, organized, courteous, and reliable. The foreman is responsible for completing jobs efficiently and on time, management of materials and equipment, ensuring crew safety, ensuring that customers are satisfied, and positively promoting the company image and its ultimate goals.

Job Duties:

Completes jobs efficiently by managing the crew and job site, tracking labor hours and materials, reviewing daily goals with the crew each morning, checking trucks and equipment daily for any possible issues, following systems already put into place, being efficient in the yard each morning and afternoon, and loading at night in preparation for the following day. Manages job sites by keeping job sites organized and clean, making sure all necessary machines are on site, reporting payroll hours to the office, entering all necessary notes into provided software programs, and reporting change orders. Ensures everyone on the crew is working safely. Performs other duties as required.

Job responsibilities:

Installation of: masonry, patios, firepits/kitchens, stone walls, lawns, plants, irrigation, outdoor lighting, excavation, fence, grading, drainage, etc.

  • Strong understanding of proper construction methods and material usage.
  • Managing a crew of 2 sometimes 3 crew members at a time
  • Interacting with customers, working in conjunction with other contractors, subs in a professional manner.
  • Submittal of paperwork: to include receipts, hours, notes - on a daily basis
  • Monitoring and maintaining construction crews equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Capable of delegating and following up with proper direction of crew members.
  • Capable of making decisions and problem solving.
  • Proper care to ensure long term use and reduction of equipment repair costs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

  • High school or equivalent (Required)
