Position: Systems Engineer I
Nature of Role: The qualified candidate will perform multi-faceted tasking p roviding In-Service Engineering support to Submarine SONAR Systems in Newport RI. This work will be performed on site in Newport RI, there is minimal-to-no telework available.
Responsibilities:
Include but are not limited to:
- Prepare/Maintain reports and written laboratory procedures to reflect the current and up-to-date standards and practices.
- Provide In-Service Engineering Support to NUWC Code 15 SONAR and Sensors department.
- Perform research for electrical, mechanical, electronic and hydraulic systems and components.
- Develop and conduct testing for electrical, mechanical, electronic and hydraulic systems and components.
- Develop/Update Technical Data Packages for conducting Technical Evaluations.
- Develop/Update local work instructions for conducting Technical Evaluations.
Requirements:
- Ability to Obtain/maintain SECRET Security Clearance.
- Effective communication, both verbal and written.
- Possess ability to work in a team environment.
- Complete tasks in a timely manner to support repair deadlines and/or ship’s schedules.
- Exceptional organizational, critical thinking skills, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, with emphasis on Microsoft Teams Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, with all levels of the contractor and government/military organization.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs.
- This work may require limited travel (less than 10%)
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field.
- Familiarity with various types of computer hardware and software is desired
- US NAVY Submarine experience is desired
- Familiarity with SOLIDWORKS is desired
- Familiarity in the following fields is desired: Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Control systems, Engineering statistics, Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
