The Marketing & Development Specialist is responsible for overseeing volunteer and event activities across M.I.K.I.D.’s sites in Arizona and Colorado. In this role, you will facilitate and coordinate volunteers for onsite events and at venues throughout the community. Your duties will include recruiting and onboarding volunteers, and scheduling volunteers for community events such as fundraisers and member activities. This role includes placing volunteers in suitable roles while maintaining accurate records. Additionally, the Coordinator will plan and execute events that support fundraising, community engagement, and brand awareness in collaboration with the Marketing / Development and Program teams. You will need to be people-oriented, an innovative problem solver, capable of directing and speaking in front of large groups, pay attention to detail, be well-organized, and able to inspire others to contribute to MIKID’s mission.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities :
Volunteer Coordination
- Assess current and future volunteer needs within the organization.
- Conduct recruitment, interviews, onboarding, and training for volunteers, including inquiries and follow up.
- Organize and implement volunteer recognition events.
- Maintain and manage an accurate volunteer database and reporting system, Virtuous.
- Support M.I.K.I.D. staff with community outreach efforts for volunteer engagement.
Event Planning & Coordination
Plan and coordinate fundraising, community engagement, and donor events.Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, venues, and donors.Assist with event budgets, track expenses, and support financial projections.Oversee event logistics, including venue selection, setup, and execution.Serve as the primary point of contact for M.I.K.I.D. events.Promote events through print, digital, and social media channels and collaborate with team and third party vendorsEnsure events align with the organization’s mission, brand, and objectives.Marketing & Communications
Assist with developing compelling storytelling content for various audiences and platforms, including print, web, social media, video, email campaigns, and presentations consistent with M.I.K.I.D branding.Collaborate with leadership, staff, and community partners to develop impactful marketing materials.Support the Development team with sponsorship outreach, donor engagement, and grant-related communications.Requirements :
Education and Experience :
High School Diploma or GED and / or bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred).1 year of experience working with nonprofit organizations.1 year of experience in volunteer and event coordination.Required Skills / Abilities :
Experience with volunteer management software (e.g., Virtuous preferred).Experience using Canva and other graphic design tools.Computer skills including MS Office and social media networks.Strong communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external stakeholders.Frequently communicates with internal and external constituents related to the programs and services offered by M.I.K.I.D.Proven ability to manage teams and coordinate cross-functional projects.Experience working with sensitive information and an understanding of HIPAA regulations.Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively.Travel required :
Community events, statewide travel up to 50%.Must be able to travel across Arizona and occasionally to Colorado.Physical Requirements and Work Environment :
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.Must be able to be work in both indoor / outdoor working conditions. Hybrid working environment, depending on organizational needs.Additional eligibility requirements :
CPR / 1st Aid CertifiedCurrent Fingerprint Clearance or the ability to obtain a clearance card.Must have a valid Driver's License.Must have reliable transportation.Must meet vehicle insurance requirement (50 / 100 liability) and vehicle registration.
