Setup Technician - Injection Molding - 3rd Shift

Role Summary:

The Set-Up Technician is responsible for the proper set-up and removal of injection molds to ensure timely changeovers and the smooth production of parts to meet customer and company quality standards. This position also performs the set-up of workstations and any required second operations equipment. The Set-Up Technician reports directly to the Shift Supervisor.

Schedule

3rd Shift: 10:40 pm to 7:10 am, Sunday - Thursday

Areas of Accountability:

• Set molds into injection molding press: Locate mold and transport to designated press; Use mold hoist/crane system to insert mold into press safely; Clamp mold into press ensuring proper installation and hook up water lines.
• Set-up workstation and second operations equipment such as fixtures, tappers, etc. as required.
• Learn and perform the basic set-up of machine operating parameters to process parts to specifications using established procedures.
• Remove molds from the press and transport to proper location.
• Perform routine mold maintenance and safety checks on equipment.
• Complete and maintain appropriate documentation.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area with an emphasis on safety, quality, efficiency, and utilization.
• Adhere to all quality and safety standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED and/or related experience.
• Minimum of 1 year material handling experience in plastic injection molding.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Desire to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment.
• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated understanding of safety rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Basic math skills.
• Basic computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two year degree and/or certificate in manufacturing technology, plastic injection molding, and/or related field.
• Previous set-up technician experience in plastic injection molding.
