What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housing Care Navigator-Part Time position at Mile High Behavioral Healthcare?
We are hiring for part time relief staff. This position would be based on when staff takes vacation, is sick or we are under cold weather activation. This would be great for people who are in school but can pick up extra shifts for for people who need a part time position for some extra hours. We have 2 locations in Aurora where there would be availability for Relief shifts.
Care Navigators are the first line of support and crisis intervention for our shelter guests in need. Navigators transition our homeless patrons off the streets and into our Aurora shelter each night, and make sure their immediate needs are met for shelter, toiletries, cleaning supplies and food. While counseling is not a component of the position, Navigators will regularly find themselves as a supportive resource to our guests and are expected to have skills in de-escalation, crisis intervention, and ability to exercise patience, compassion and empathetic rapport in a challenging and fast-paced environment.

You will regularly interact with our most vulnerable population; those struggling with mental health needs, drug and alcohol addiction, and basic financial crisis. Skills Required: QuickThinking, Patience, Compassion, Reliability, Adaptability, Flexibility,Positive Attitude, Ability to lift 30 pounds and stand/walk for several hours ata time. Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
Education Required:High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Experience Required:Case management experience preferred, knowledge of crisis intervention andde-escalation techniques preferred, awareness of community resources helpful.Any experience with harm reduction philosophies, trauma-informed care, andlow-barrier shelter services, is extremely helpful.
Licensure/CertificationsRequired:
Valid Colorado driver’s license.
Standing, sitting and walking in afast-paced high energy environment.
Ability to pass background check withthe Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
Ability to pass background check withthe Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Ability to gain clearance through theColorado Central Registry of Child Abuse and neglect
Have or obtain First Aid and CPRcertification.
