Salary : $3,983 - 4,500 / month (depending on qualifications)

The Early Childhood Community Outreach & Mentor Specialist (ECCOMS) will focus on building relationships with high schools, institutions of higher education, and community organizations with the intent of recruiting students from these community educational organizations to become early childhood teachers. The ECCOMS will work directly with people interested in early childhood teaching positions and assess their interests, education, and experience for placement in an appropriate MHEL continuing education program. The ECCOMS will help train new staff through MHEL programs and serve as a mentor to them. Through our Childhood Development Associate (CDA) program, the ECCOMS will serve as both a CDA facilitator and mentor to recruited staff to support their successful completion of 120 hours of content training. The ECCOMS will work closely with the CDA coordinator in support of building CDA capacity through community partnerships, CDA cohorts, and ongoing recruitment efforts.

Essential Job Functions :
- Spanish and English language proficiency
- Work in collaboration with Director of Workforce Development and Human Resources to attract new candidates to the early childhood field to increase MHEL’s educator workforce through innovative strategies
- Establish and maintain relationships with local high schools, higher education institutions, and community organizations in support of ongoing recruitment efforts
- Place and maintain postings for CDA enrollment at local high schools, higher education institutions, and community organizations
- Represent MHEL’s CDA program at career and job fairs including community and higher education venues
- Work closely with Human Resources to fill open education staff vacancies both short- and long-term
- Assess the interest, education, and experience of recruited staff for placement within an appropriate MHEL continuing education program and / or open teaching positions
- Provide prospective employee with general information on MHEL employment opportunities, including opportunities for promotion and employee benefits
- Work closely with CDA Coordinator to plan, schedule, and fully enroll CDA cohorts
- Facilitate CDA cohorts as needed
- Provide internal recruiting reports to direct supervisor through documented activities
- Implement plan to define, collect, and assess outcomes measures for grant reporting and evaluation
- Maintain a trauma informed equity lens through all interactions with educationally, economically, culturally, and racially diverse persons whose first language may not be English
- Maintain professional and effective working relationships with co-workers and MHEL staff
- Maintain confidentiality related to any agency, family / child, or staff information
