In addition to the above, we are looking for a candidate who also uniquely fulfills the specific needs of our Data Engineer role.
The Data Engineer will play a critical role in advancing Milestone's mission and values. This individual will be responsible for data infrastructure to support our innovative technology solutions, including Milestone’s Pathway® platform. This role demands a strong understanding of databases, a commitment to principled and dependable work, and the ability to align data strategies with our empathetic and agile approach.
Primary Functions & Responsibilities:
- Participate in design and implementation of new qualified settlement fund (QSF) financial data models, leveraging next-generation cloud technologies
- Implement data intake pipelines and Extract, Transform, Load processes in partnership with our clients
- Design and implement data movement and transformation using Azure Data Factory, TSQL, Azure Storage, SSMS, Azure Data Studio, and related technologies
- Develop Milestone’s data warehouse and analytics solutions utilizing Power BI, SQL Server, and Azure Data Factory
- Develop integrations from financial data stores to our CRM (Salesforce), our financial ERP platform (NetSuite), and our proprietary digital payment products
- Consult and collaborate with business and functional groups
- Recommend and manage short-term projects designed to meet business requirements, application functionality, performance, availability, cost, and business continuity across a variety of infrastructure needs while considering business direction and growth strategies with our BI and analytics program
- Provide information, documentation, and guidance necessary to seamlessly transition designed systems to the operations and support areas
- Work with other technology teams to provide functional and scalable integrations to power other Milestone platforms
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field required
- 2 years’ experience with understanding complex business requirements and converting them into technical solutions
- 2 years in Data Warehousing and ETL development (preferably using Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Studio, TSQL, Azure Storage, SSMS, Azure Cloud Networking & Security)
- SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, schemas, stored procedures, views, user defined functions, and avoiding blocking and contention
- Experience with complex query authoring (SQL), as well as working familiarity with a variety of database vendor/platforms (Oracle NetSuite, Salesforce)
- Experience developing data warehouse and data models from the ground up, including experience with SCD processing patterns (Medallion pattern experience is a plus)
- Experience with ETL/intake of data from a variety of sources (db, CSV, JSON, API), data standardization, validation, verification, and exposing the data via standard protocols to provide data for internal applications and analytics
- Experience with DAX and creating Power BI (Azure) analytical model and dashboards
- Familiar with Data Warehouse best practices and dimensional modeling while applying a unified data strategy
- Must be a self-starter able to work independently under minimal supervision, but also take direction/guidance well and function efficiently as part of a collaborative team
- Must be able to meet deadlines, wear multiple hats, maintain flexibility to pivot as needed throughout the day, and thrive in high-pressure situations
- Maintain a high degree of attention to detail and professionalism in working with various clients, time-sensitive materials, and confidential matters
- Able to effectively prioritize, organize, and juggle multiple tasks/projects/deadlines simultaneously
Preferred additional skills:
- Experience working in the financial services industry preferred
- Understanding of metadata management concepts, master data, and transaction data is a plus
- Experience in ETL/ELT workflow orchestration (parallel and sequential) a plus
- Knowledge of third party ETL/ELT tools (Fivetran, DBT, Informatica, SSIS) a plus
- Salesforce and NetSuite ERP knowledge preferred
