The QC Technician will be responsible for performing quality control on concrete and materials used for producing concrete in accordance with test methods, specifications, and protocols.

Essential Functions

• Performs quality control tests
• Performs testing procedures
• Sample and test raw materials
• Concrete troubleshooting
• Evaluate results and report to QC Manager
• Ability to perform mathematical operations involving variables and percentages
• Ability to assess situations and solve problems quickly
• Ability to lift 60 pounds consistently and up to 80 pounds occasionally
• Proficiency in MS Windows programs, including Word and Excel
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work both night and daytime hours, weekend, and overtime
• Attends training
• Promotes and maintains safe work environment
• Wears all prescribed PPE

Education Qualifications

• High School or Equivalent required

Experience Qualifications

• Experience working with concrete in the heavy/highway industry preferred
• Quality Control experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• ACI Field Level 1 Certification preferred
• Valid drivers license is required

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

• Continuous exposure to aggregates, gravel, water, concrete.
• Indoor lab conditions that include mechanical equipment, noise, vibration, fumes and airborne particles.
• Outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, precipitation, heat, humidity, dust, and/or concrete, aggregate/gravel pits, moving or stopped traffic at job sites.
• Lifts, pushes, pulls, pours or carries heavy objects, buckets of material, up to 95lbs.
• Walks and stands for long periods of time.
• Bends, stoops, squats, reaches to move, mix and test materials.
• Uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
• Uses good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination, with the ability to quickly move arms and legs.
• Possess excellent stamina to work between 8-12 hours per day.
• Drives distances between labs, plants and job sites.
• Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, normally 40 hours per week. Days and hours of work can vary, but shifts are normally 8 or more hours. Overtime, weekend and shift work are frequently required.
• Travel Travel is throughout the state to various labs, plants and job sites throughout the business day; some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.
