Part Time SUBSTITUTE School Calendar TA in an inclusive preschool classroom

Seeking caring, enthusiastic, dedicated Teaching Assistant substitutes to work in our inclusion preschool UPK classrooms. Weekday 8am-1pm shift.

Our classroom integrates children with developmental disabilities and delays with typically developing UPK peers. Our team includes a Certified Special Education Teacher, a Certified Lead Preschool Teacher, and 3 Certified Teacher Assistants in the classroom. Plus licensed Speech Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist and Physical Therapist to provide a comprehensive preschool program and related services. Job Type:

Part time Substitute, Monday through Friday 7:45am to 1:15pm
Following Watertown school calendar plus 6 weeks summer session

School-based UPK Preschool Job Requirements for UPK SUBSTITUTE Preschool Teaching Assistant or UPK TA Job:

• NYS TA Certification preferred (or we can fund your TA cert requirements)
• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
• Experience with special needs children
• High energy level and caring personality

Physical Requirements of Inclusion UPK TA Sub Job:

• Physically able to bend/stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, push/pull, reach above and below shoulder level frequently and move about quickly.
• Independently lift up to 50 lbs up to five (5) times/day.
• Exposed to bites, kicks, punches, spitting and other physical behaviors of preschool children with special needs.

Helpful Experience for School-based UPK Preschool Sub Job:

• Preschool, UPK or PreK experience
• Inclusion or self-contained classroom experience
• Experience with challenging behaviors
• Creativity and patience in implementing positive behavior strategies
• Experience with children with developmental delays or disabilities
• Experience with seizures, other childhood medical conditions

Job Type: Part-time

Expected hours: 10 – 28 per week
