What are the responsibilities and job description for the Extended School Year (ESY) Summer Program Coordinator position at Milford School District?
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The Extended School Year (ESY) Summer Program Coordinator will work directly with the Assistant Director of Student Services to provide oversight of the ESY Summer Program. In addition, the coordinator will provide guidance to the ESY staff and be able to replace staff in their absence. In collaboration with the Assistant Director of Student Services and the ESY staff, the program coordinator will monitor the implementation of the ESY services, progress monitoring of the services and monitor the success of the program.The duties of the Coordinator are critical to the overall educational program of the students and require effective and ongoing communication and collaboration with staff and administration. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: The ESY Summer Program Coordinator will: Assist in the hiring of program staff.Oversee the day to day operations of the ESY program.Manage the success of the program.Support classroom set-up.Determine student placement in classrooms for ESY.Support all student transportation.Provide staff, student, and bus lists to school administrators.Collect and compile student attendance.Submit teacher and support staff attendance for payroll processing.Make any necessary phone calls to absent students/discipline issues.Arrange for any necessary substitutes during the program.Plan and coordinate the end of program wrap up.Arrive at school 15 minutes prior to student arrival and remain at school for 15 minutes after student dismissal, or until the last student has been dropped off.Work with parents and students as necessary.Planning for the following year ESY program.Such other qualifications as the Assistant Director of Student Services may deem acceptable or appropriate.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of district curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, district policies, and effective instructional practices.Understanding of the teaching/learning process.Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education.Ability and willingness to be the curriculum development leader for their discipline.Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school based staff, students, parents and community.Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university required.Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience.

The Stipend will be divided into four payments; the payments will be paid in July, August, January and June. The Coordinator will be expected to meet monthly with the Student Support Administration from January through June.
