What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Field Inspector position at Milhouse Engineering and Construction, Inc.?
The Construction Field Inspector performs inspections on Milhouse projects specific to our construction management team. They manage the schedule, assign the workload, conduct regular pay estimates, fulfill specifications, and coordinate material as needed.
As a change agent, you will enforce plans and specifications for the client(s), make dimensional corrections/modifications where appropriate and perform regular fieldwork. In turn, you will be rewarded with the chance to grow and develop within a close-knit and family orientated team that anticipates significant growth on the horizon.
The Milhouse NY/NJ CM team is growing, and this person will have the opportunity to spearhead and direct that growth. Your leadership experience, technical sense and ability to hit the ground running is needed as we continue to build our team.
What you will do:
- Manage contractor compliance as it relates to quality, performance, specifications, and schedule.
- Monitor and document contractor performance, including adherence to project schedules and safety regulations.
- Keep an open line of communication with your project leadership team, contractors, and all other crew members.
- Conduct field inspections with relevant inspection records and reports kept up to date and provided to the project leadership team.
- In the field you will conduct physical measurements, inspect the physical construction, test/sample materials, and validate the quality of the materials onsite.
- Provide quick and informative solutions to issues as they arise.
- Identify and report any discrepancies, deficiencies, or non-conformance issues.
- Support change order reviews, payment application verifications, and contractor claim assessments.
What we are looking for:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs.
- MicroStation skills are advantageous.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
- Familiar with discipline specific design software and design management systems.
- Knowledge of standard format specification development.
Your background:
- 2 years of relevant professional experience.
- BS Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree.
- Construction Inspection for bridge projects desired.
- Construction Inspection for Amtrak projects desired.
The actual base pay depends upon many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
