What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Engineer III (MEP) position at Milhouse?
The Electrical Engineer III will perform mid to high level complexity design and project management on a large variety of projects acting as lead or support resource for prime and sub consultant work under the direction of client or Milhouse Engineering management. Typical design work includes low and medium voltage power distribution systems, motor control circuits, raceway systems, fire alarm systems, underground utility plans and profiles, interior and outdoor lighting systems, cathodic protection systems, panelboard and apparatus schedules and interfacing with utility companies.
**Please note this role will follow our hybrid schedule of 4 days in-office at either our downtown Chicago office or Lombard office.
What you will do:
- Design to client and regulatory requirements.
- Manage mid to large size projects to schedule and budget.
- Keep Milhouse Engineering management advised of all quality, schedule, and budget variances in a timely manner.
- Manage subordinate or other discipline resources to quality, schedule, and budget requirements.
- Shop drawing review and disposition.
- Preparing project documents and reports.
- Maintaining project files.
- Creating and enforcing project quality plan.
- Data and document entry into various platforms.
- Reporting safety, health, and quality issues to management.
- Prepare contract amendments, change order documentation, and claims documentation.
- Assist management as directed.
- Other duties as assigned.
What we are looking for:
- Knowledge of codes and standards.
- Revit proficiency.
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel as well as ACAD or MicroStation.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
- Knowledge of CPM schedule analysis.
- Knowledge of standard format specification development.
Your background:
- Four-year technical degree from an ABET accredited institution.
- 6-8 years of relevant electrical design experience.
- Engineer In training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Certifications in LEED, Value Engineering, Energy Management, or similar certification preferred.
- Familiar with discipline specific design software and design management systems.
- Active memberships in discipline specific professional organizations such as IEEE.
The actual base pay depends upon many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
