Position Purpose
Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Museum Building Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, functionality, and overall appearance of the Military Aviation Museum’s buildings and grounds. This position ensures a safe and well-maintained environment for guests, staff, and volunteers by performing routine cleaning, repairs, event setup and breakdown, and assisting with seasonal maintenance projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

· General cleaning of the buildings and keeping them maintained and in good condition.

· Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities.

· Carrying out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects.

· Clean and stock restrooms.

· Collect and dispose of trash.

· Perform routine tasks such as changing light bulbs, minor repairs to fixtures and restrooms, paint and touch-up doors and walls.

· In the wintertime, ensure all sidewalks are free of snow and ice.

· In the summertime, assist with outdoor needs as needed (mowing the lawn, weed pulling, etc.)

· Support daytime and evening events to include table and chair set-up and take-down, trash disposal, LED lighting and stage platforms.

· Clean and supply designated building areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, windows, sanitizing all touch fixtures and railings, cleaning ceiling vents, foyers, etc).

· Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs.

· Stock and maintain supply rooms.

· Be a team player.

· Follow all health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

· High School graduate or equivalent.

· Must have a valid Driver License and reliable transportation.

· Must Be 18 years or older

· Track record of dependability and reliability.

· Service oriented, friendly, and able to promote the Museum enthusiastically.

· Must have a professional appearance and be willing to wear a uniform (provided by the Museum)

· Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to remain calm in confrontational and crisis situations.

· Ability to manage / address several tasks simultaneously while remaining aware of the environment, and our guests’ needs.

· Be first aid certified or be willing to be trained.

· Must be able to work independently and/or in collaboration with other departments.

Job Requirements

· Must have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in general janitorial cleaning of commercial properties

· Ability to use and handle cleaning equipment and machinery.

· Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.

· Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets.

· Availability to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

· Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 lb.

· Ability to climb extension ladders, roof access ladders, and stairs.

· Ability to stoop and bend.

· Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.

None

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $13.50 per hour

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
