General Description
The Water/Wastewater Superintendent shall oversee the drinking water production & distribution and efficient wastewater collection & treatment for the community. The Superintendent is responsible for planning, directing, organizing and supervising the Corporation’s water production and wastewater treatment operations. The Superintendent is responsible for meeting all required health and safety standards including all compliance with T.C.E.Q. and federal E.P.A. requirements such as the Clean Water Act.
Description of Typical Duties
- Oversees all water and wastewater system related work on a day-to-day basis
- Assures completion of all T.C.E.Q. reporting
- Directs all activities of the water and sewer Department, including scheduling, processes and procedures, and purchasing
- Supervises staff for completion of day-to-day maintenance operations, performance evaluations, and training
- Develops and administers the approved Department budgets
Qualifications And Requirements
- Employee is expected to have high values of Ownership, Team Building, and Work Ethic.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited College or University with a Bachelor’s Degree
- 7-Plus Years of experience in the administration, planning, operation, and maintenance of potable water and wastewater facilities/systems.
- Water Operator License requirement: must hold at minimum a B License
- Wastewater Operator License requirement: must hold at minimum a B License
- Extensive experience in managing department personnel and client relationships
- Experience with Reverse Osmosis & Membrane treatment technology
- Proficiency with Supervisory Control Systems (SCADA) including in depth knowledge of its principles and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience managing employee schedules
- Extensive experience handling treatment chemicals including Hazardous chemicals
- Experience with purchasing practices for equipment and materials needed for daily operations
- Valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency in using Microsoft software’s such as Word and Excel
- Strong leadership abilities
- Strong Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Strong Teamwork and Communication skills.
- Basic Knowledge of Engineering reports and comprehension of engineering drawings
- Some agility and physical strength including standing and walking for most of the time and some heavy lifting may be required (up to 100lbs)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
