Established in 2007, the Military Installation Development Authority (MIDA) is a unique government entity within Utah that promotes the development of military land and related projects. Salary & Benefits
The starting salary is $90,000 - $110,000, depending on experience. The position includes a benefits package including medical, dental, 401(k), paid leave, and paid holidays similar to a state government employee.
Essential Duties
Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain tax ledger master-file data for MIDA project areas.
- Perform the accounting processes for tax related revenue collections and distributions.
- Prepare performance reports for the finance department, MIDA staff, and the Board.
- Maintain revenue forecasting models.
- Coordinate with entities providing the data and revenues to MIDA to ensure data quality, completeness and accuracy of distributions.
- Develop reports and tests to ensure the integrity of the tax database and the system interface with the general ledger.
Education, Experience, & Certifications
- Graduated from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in data analytics, accounting, or related field. Equivalent work experience in government finance analyst roles may also qualify in lieu of a degree.
- At least two (2) years of progressively responsible experience related to essential duties.
- Professional certifications in data analytics, such as Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, Google Data Analytics Certification, or Tableau Certified Data Analyst Certification, are preferred, but not required.

- Knowledge of and proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, statistical analysis, data visualization, and data governance.
- Understanding the legislation governing MIDA’s use of public funds, the mechanisms of tax collection in Utah, and the ways public sector financial operations differ from private sector practices.
- Proficiency in utilizing technology tools like Power BI, Tableau, Excel, Python, R, SQL, and GIS to analyze and manage data.
- Ability to effectively manage work assignments and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Ability to analyze and solve complex problems and make recommendations.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and interact positively with and exchange information with MIDA staff and the public in a variety of situations.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality to sensitive administrative information.
Location & Travel
The Finance Analyst will not have an assigned office, so the individual will work remotely from a location of their choice. The Finance Analyst will use their own phone and internet connection and may receive reimbursement according to MIDA policy. Because the Finance Analyst may need to attend in-person meetings held near Hill Air Force Base, Wasatch County, and other locations in Utah where military facilities are located, candidates located in Utah are preferred.
Physical Requirements
- The Finance Analyst will be working from home or another location of their choice as MIDA does not provide office space. Tasks may require a variety of physical activities, not generally involving muscular strain, such as the ability to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment such as a calculator, copier, or printer.
- Essential duties generally require frequent communications and the exchanging of information with other MIDA employees and contractors and, at times, other government officials, private businesses, and the public.
- Rapid work speed required to perform computer operations.
- Mental application that utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, and creative problem solving.
