Medical Biller
Duties:
- Review and analyze medical records to accurately assign appropriate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services using ICD-10 coding systems.
- Ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations.
- Verify patient demographic and insurance information into billing software.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies electronically or by mail.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, and resubmit as necessary.
- Process payments from insurance companies and patients.
- Resolve billing discrepancies or issues with insurance companies or patients.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient billing records.
- Provide support to other departments regarding coding and billing inquiries.
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Medical Biller or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of medical coding systems such as ICD-10 and CPT codes.
- Familiarity with DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding is a plus.
- Proficient in using billing software (Preferred experience with Modernizing Medicine/EMA EHR system) and electronic medical record systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, procedures, and diagnoses.
- Knowledge of insurance guidelines, reimbursement processes, and claim submission requirements.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
