As a Truss Designer, you will play a pivotal role in our design team, contributing to the creation of efficient, reliable, and structurally sound truss systems. You will be responsible for utilizing industry-standard software and design principles to create accurate and detailed truss designs. You will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure the successful completion of projects while adhering to industry standards and client specifications. Your ability to interpret construction documents and apply your technical expertise will be key to your success in this role.
This position is in Halstead, Kansas. Relocation assistance or Remote work options are also available.
Responsibilities:
- Design truss systems: Utilize specialized industry software to create precise truss designs based on architectural plans and engineering specifications.
- Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure that truss designs meet project requirements and client expectations.
- Interpret construction documents: Review architectural plans, blueprints, and structural drawings to accurately translate design intent into truss configurations.
- Conduct load calculations: Apply engineering principles to determine appropriate load capacities and ensure the structural integrity of truss systems.
- Ensure compliance: Stay up to date with local building codes and industry standards to ensure that truss designs meet all regulatory requirements.
- Optimize design efficiency: Seek opportunities to improve truss system performance by optimizing material usage, reducing waste, and streamlining manufacturing processes.
- Provide technical support: Collaborate with the production team to address any questions or concerns regarding truss designs during the manufacturing process.
- Documentation and reporting: Maintain accurate records of design changes, calculations, and other relevant information to facilitate project coordination and future reference.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Education and experience: Prior experience of 3 years in truss design or construction drafting is required. A degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field is preferred.
- Technical skills: Proficiency in use of Mitek truss design software is essential.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills are required.
- Knowledge of building codes: Understanding of local and national building codes and regulations pertaining to truss design is necessary.
- Detail-oriented: Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate and error-free truss designs.
- Communication and collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and clearly communicate technical information.
- Problem-solving: Ability to identify and resolve design issues or conflicts in a timely and efficient manner.
- Time management: Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet project deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing project requirements.
