Mill Pond Kennels is searching for an additional assistant dog trainer or dog trainer to join its team. The perfect candidate is someone with dog handling experience in a kennel/daycare environment or someone willing to learn more about dog training.
We understand, but there's more to this position than playing with animals. Care of these dogs AND our customers takes top priority as well as the quality of training our customers receive.
This position will also be in charge of our dog intake and calls, you will need to show care to customers and help them learn, as well as help take care of the dogs and handle them in our training program under our trainer supervision. You will need to be detail oriented and organized, keep the place clean to keep environment healthy for dogs, and able to multitask.
If showing skills in what is taught you can easily move into a trainer position over time. Family is important to us, as you will become part of ours! We are a kennel that looks after each other and holds everyone in great respect. This is a position that will go through multiple interviews and time to find the right person. We are a humane, balanced method, dog training facility and the person we take on must train the way we teach them. While loving dogs is SUPER important, that alone is not what trains them.

- Common sense to dogs is a MUST
- Must be a self-starter, problem solver, dog lover of course, truth seeker, and willing to learn a proven training method
- Deadline minded
- Ability to follow instructions and take constructive criticism, be humbled
- Learn kennel operational duties to cover for the kennel helper when needed
- 6 week internship to make sure you have what it takes
- Confident doing milestone update videos that are posted for our customers
- Comfortable explaining and teaching customers how to handle their dog, You WILL be training people as well as dogs.
- Some weekend days for handler courses to out of town/state customers
- Possess leadership personality, for dogs and people
- MUST want to teach people and not just dogs.
- Work together as a team environment with us
