Math and Alternative Teacher (Long Term Substitute)

Mill River Union High School/Middle School, located in the picturesque town of North Clarendon, Vermont, is seeking a dedicated and passionate full-time Math and Alternative Education Long Term Substitute to join our team through the end of the school year (June 2025). The Opportunity:
Mill River Union High School/Middle School is looking for an enthusiastic Math and Alternative teacher who will teach both Freshman mathematics, and support students by facilitating our Alternative Education program.The ideal candidate will have a robust background in developing and implementing an engaging, hands-on curriculum and academic intervention tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students.

• Certification (or eligibility for certification) in Mathematics preferred.
• Experience supporting learners at all skill levels meet their learning goals and achieve proficiency in course standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Classroom Instruction: Meets and instructs assigned classes at designated times and locations. This will include a split of middle school electives and support of alternative learning opportunities for students.
• Learning Environment: Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
• Behavior Standards: Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Goal Setting: Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
• Student Evaluation: Evaluates students academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
• Communication: Communicates with students and parents/guardians for education-related purposes through phone calls, emails, and meetings.
• Collaborative Support: Participates in meetings and works collaboratively with school counselors, case managers, and other teachers to support student success and growth.
• Advisory Role: Facilitates an advisory each day to support students with peer interactions, organization, and important school-wide information.
• Inclusive Teaching: Designs culturally relevant and inclusive learning opportunities for a diverse student body.
