SUPERVISED BY: Director & Assistant Director of Student Services, and Building Principals
BASIC FUNCTION: The educational Speech-Language Pathologist will conduct high-quality special education evaluations as well as implement evidence-based speech-language therapy services to eligible students spanning multiple grade levels and categories of need.
WORKS WITH: Students, Teachers, Administration, Parents
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. The applicant must hold a current Vermont Educator’s License as a Speech-Language Pathologist, in addition to clinical licensure from the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation.
2. The applicant shall demonstrate the ability to interpret and work in compliance with all statutes set forth by the State of Vermont Special Education Regulations.
3. The applicant must demonstrate the ability to conduct standardized evaluation procedures and produce a variety of technical reports.
4. The applicant must be able to pass a criminal background check as well as comply with all fingerprinting requirements.
5. The applicant must be able to serve students who attend public PreK programs, which requires the successful completion of all mandated training necessary to be able to serve PreK students.
6. The applicant must maintain membership in ASHA in addition to his/her/their current licenses.
7. Experience with the implementation and oversight of Assistive & Augmentative Communication (AAC) is preferred.
8. Applicants requiring supervision for the Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) shall be considered.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Provide high-quality, evidence-based speech-language therapy services, evaluations, case management, and consultations to eligible students.
2. Complete Medicaid paperwork as required.
3. Attend and actively participate in all district-mandated and/or state-mandated professional development opportunities.
4. Complete data-collection and progress-monitoring and reporting tasks in accordance with educational plans and district requirements.
5. Utilize ongoing professional interpersonal communication and collaboration skills including verbal, non-verbal, and written communication.
6. Serve as a responsive case manager for assigned students.
7. Implement and oversee the use of Assistive/Augmentative Communication systems as well as other technology supports.
8. Other responsibilities as assigned.
