How will you make an impact in this role?

As a Strategic Account Manager, you will play a pivotal role in building and maintaining strong relationships with our key clients in the Midwest region. You'll act as a trusted advisor, understanding their business needs, and ensuring that our services align with their strategic goals. Your ability to manage complex accounts, drive client satisfaction, and identify growth opportunities will be essential to MRP's success.

This position is an onsite role located at our facility in St. Paul, MN. While the role has some remote flexibility, the ideal candidate must reside within a commutable distance of St. Paul, MN.

A Day in the Life:

  • Manage strategic accounts from end to end, individually and/or in collaboration with the assigned Sales Executive, including but not limited to:

  • Own or co-own customer relationships

  • Drive sales growth within the account.

  • Support new project development.

  • Engage in strategic demand planning with customers and Production.

  • Solve complex production planning issues.

  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with customers.

  • Receive purchase orders.

  • Enter sales orders.

  • Create strategic RFPs for the Midwest, working with Account Executives and MRP leadership.

  • Create production plans to solve complex issues, coordinating and partnering with Production departments and General Managers (GMs).

  • Gather and communicate customer expectations through detailed service and job requirements.

  • Collaborate with customers to design and engineer projects, collect feedback, and suggest process improvements.

  • Learn and understand customer roles and how they source products.

  • Partner with plant leadership to recommend layouts, substrates, processes, and locations for pricing and proposals.

  • Resolve customer and production concerns efficiently.

  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to build relationships.

What does it take to be successful in this role?

Basic Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as an Account Manager (or similar role) with ownership of strategic/key accounts in the packaging industry.

  • Proven track record of driving sales growth within accounts.

  • Experience supporting new project development.

  • Experience in partnering directly with operations on production plans and demand planning.

  • Ability to solve complex problems including production planning issues.

  • Experience negotiating pricing, contracts, and terms with customers.

  • Ability to receive purchase orders and enter sales orders.

  • Experience creating RFPs

  • Experience gathering and communicating customer expectations through detailed service and job requirements.

  • Experience collaborating with customers to design and engineer projects, collect feedback, and suggest process improvements.

  • Demonstrated success in resolving customer and production concerns efficiently.

Preferred Requirements

  • 5 years of experience managing/supporting accounts in the folding carton industry

The nature and scope of your account assignment may evolve over time as the business adapts to changing market conditions, client demands, and strategic priorities. As a leader in client relationships, the introduction of new services, customized solutions to customer challenges, or capitalizing on new opportunities may require a shift in focus to better meet the client's evolving needs. This position requires flexibility and responsiveness that is crucial to maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring long-term success.
