Description

Mill Rock Packaging is excited to start the search for a Quality Technician – Quality. This position is located onsite at our Aurora, Colorado facility, reporting to the Quality Manager. This position is a graveyard hour starting at 10 pm to 6 am Sunday-Thursday.  

Mill Rock Aurora (previously All Packaging Company) is one of the many facilities that make up Mill Rock Packaging, a quickly growing platform in the packaging industry and a market leader in the design, engineering and production of high-end, sustainable and customized graphic paperboard, folding carton and commercial printing products. The facility serves customers in various dynamic industries including consumer staples, food and beverage, technology, pharmaceuticals, health, beauty and more. 

Your Impact: 

MRP is searching for passionate and agile problem-solvers who are excited by challenges and the opportunity to build something great with us. As a Quality Technician in the Quality Department, you will be responsible of conducts in process inspection of working process materials. The responsible party should ensure cartons are inspected for defects, and correct counts are packed in the designated cases. They also ensure random carton samples are pulled based on a sampling chart. 

A Day in the Life: 

Key Responsiblies

  • Inspect, test, and monitor current production in accordance with established procedures to assure compliance to required specifications; report findings to appropriate personnel for needed changes, adjustment or place product on hold; confirm specifications; conduct visual and measurement tests; reject and return unacceptable materials.
  • Sorting and rework of suspect materials.
  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations and customer requirements.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Communicate and collaborate with supervisor(s) and the different departments.
  • Assist in ensuring fundamental food safety and quality practices are maintained to achieve food safety and quality objectives and to support ongoing improvements of food safety programs.
  • Track jobs through the production process and communicate details to next department shift.
  • Work independently and make judgments.  
  • Maintains accurate and complete documentation of all work performed for establishment of methods and standards.

This is a full-time, on-site position.  Specific shift hours will be agreed upon at hiring, however, changes in manufacturing needs and schedules may necessitate a change to the original agreed upon hours, or the working of additional, overtime hours.  Every effort will be made to give advance notice of any permanent changes. 

Work Environment 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is frequently exposed to humid conditions.  The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. 
 

Physical Demands 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  This position requires repetitive lifting and bending.  

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

 

Qualifications


Capabilities & Experience: 

Basic Qualifications 

  • Language Skills – Ability to read and comprehend instructions.  Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standard situations.
  • Computer Skills – Basic computer skills are required to read work instructions, record job data, follow work schedule, and communicate via email.
  • Problem Solving/Analysis.
  • Understands product layouts and production specifications.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or up to 2 years of experience in Quality Assurance function in manufacturing environment.; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Paperboard folding carton industry experience.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and teamwork oriented.  Able to perform a variety of tasks throughout the day in a fast-paced work environment; respond to continually changing priorities and co-ordinate multiple projects. 
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015, FSC, HACCP standards methods is strongly desired.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $21.00/hour to $26.00/hour. Pay is based on a variety of complex factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Depending on the position, other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of robust medical, dental, vision, 401(k) and life insurance benefits.
