The Millard County Sheriff’s Office is currently creating an employment roster for Certified Deputy Sheriff positions. This roster will be used to fill current openings and may be used for future employment openings with the Millard County Sheriff’s Office. Positions may include employment as Law Enforcement Deputy or Correctional Deputy. Deputies perform law enforcement and correctional duties for the citizens of Millard County and the State of Utah under Utah Code and Sheriff’s Office Policy and Procedures.
Position descriptions include, but are not limited to:
- Scheduled shift work and weekends.
- Subject to callouts and emergencies.
- Perform law enforcement duties.
- Perform investigative, evidentiary, reporting, and testimony functions.
- Interact with other law enforcement at State and Federal levels.
- Work within existing State and Federal law, case law, and policies
- Submit to and pass random drug testing.
- Other duties as assigned.
- May involve residency requirements.
Minimum eligibility requirements include, but are not limited to:
- 19 years of age or older for Corrections; 21 years of age or older for Patrol.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- U.S. Citizen or permanent legal resident at time of employment.
- Completed Sheriff’s Office employment application.
- Possess valid Utah Driver License.
- Successfully pass the National Police Officer Selection Test (N-POST) prior to testing with M.C.S.O.
- Successfully pass Millard County and POST pre-certification physical testing.
- Successfully pass pre-employment drug screening.
- Successfully pass background check.
- May be required to pass pre-employment firearms qualification test.
- May be required to pass a truth verification examination.
- May be required to pass psychological screening test.

Preference may be given to applicants with current Utah Peace Officer certification. Starting wages $24.45/hr. Millard County Sheriff’s Office does now offer a lateral hiring option with a credit of 1 for 1 years of POST certified service based upon equivalent job description, performance, and review. No credit is offered for experience of less than 12 months of service. Up to $10,000 (taxable) recruitment bonus available for already P.O.S.T. Certified officers.
Successful applicants not currently certified as Peace Officers can have training paid for including wages and per-diem and county vehicle for travel to P.O.S.T. Salary will be determined by the Sheriff and County Commission based on current policies.
