Position : Executive Director (Part-time, Hourly Employee)

Reports to : President of the Board

Availability : ASAP

The Millburn Short Hills Chamber of Commerce, a 503(c)(6) non-profit organization, is dedicated to strengthening local businesses through community connections. We focus on marketing, networking, and fostering relationships across various sectors.

Role Overview

The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the organization's operations, ensuring program effectiveness, fulfilling contractual obligations, and managing resources. This role involves developing policies and objectives for Board consideration, public relations, and executing the annual work plan approved by the Board of Directors (BOD). The Executive Director is accountable to the BOD for upholding the organization's mission.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Communication

  • Respond to inquiries via phone and email professionally.
  • Manage social media and marketing content creation.
  • Represent the Chamber at various events and develop sponsorship packages.
  • Design marketing graphics and assets for promotional use.

Administrative Duties

  • Utilize CRM software for membership tracking and event management.
  • Prepare meeting agendas and event reports.
  • Maintain a calendar of Chamber events and assist in coordinating them.
  • Attend Board meetings and Chamber events, with options for virtual participation.
  • Manage billing and financial accounts, including bank transactions.
  • Oversee website updates and act as a liaison with committees and contractors.
  • Membership Management & Engagement

  • Develop and execute program goals and onboarding processes for new members.
  • Promote events and benefits to both existing and prospective members.
  • Create newsletters and press releases for local media.
  • Collaborate with regional organizations for additional community events.
  • Recruit new members through outreach initiatives.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with a history of collaborative relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Public speaking and marketing experience preferred.
  • Basic fiscal management skills required.
  • Business development experience or small business ownership is a plus.
  • Ability to set and achieve strategic objectives independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency in social media and graphic design tools, such as Canva preferred.
  • Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with CRM tools or organizational management software preferred (will train).
  • Familiarity with membership platforms like GrowthZone (will train) and QuickBooks preferred.
  • Ability to use digital platforms for meetings and social media effectively.
  • Other Requirements

  • Must have dedicated office space and necessary technology (computer, printer, internet).
  • Willingness to travel locally within the Millburn Short Hills area.
  • Ability to store essential files and event supplies at home.

    Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly Rate : $30-35, based on experience.
  • Expected Hours : 15-20 hours per week, not to exceed 25 hours.
  • Schedule : Monday to Friday, with flexibility for meetings and events.
  • Work Location : Mostly remote with in-person attendance required 1-2 days a week.
  • Benefits : Flexible scheduling, opportunities for professional growth, and access to a network of chamber executives.
  • Location : Remote with travel to Millburn & Short Hills, NJ, and required travel to surrounding communities as needed.
  • Transportation : Reliable transportation necessary for local travel (25% expected).
  • Job Type : Part-time

    Pay : $30.00 - $35.00 per hour

    Expected hours : 15 – 20 per week
