The Position:
Millcreek Township is seeking a Lead Dispatcher/TAC Officer oversees daily operations of the dispatch team, providing leadership, guidance, and administrative support. This includes call-taking, dispatching, scheduling, training, coaching, and mentoring both full-time and part-time dispatchers. The role also encompasses responsibilities as the Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC Officer), JNET Sponsor, and JNET Registrar, as well as ensuring police department warrants and NCIC entries are accurate, up-to-date, and properly maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispatch Operations: Perform all core duties of a Public Safety/Public Works Dispatcher.
- Team Leadership: Oversee support dispatch staff, ensuring effective performance and maintaining a positive work environment.
- Training & Development: Plan and execute training programs for dispatch personnel, ensuring they meet department standards and comply with state and federal requirements.
- Scheduling & Coverage: Manage dispatch scheduling, ensuring adequate coverage for both planned and unplanned absences, coordinating with the Payroll Department.
- Audits & Compliance: Conduct state-mandated evaluations and audits of dispatch operations.
- Warrant Management: Oversee warrant processes, ensuring accuracy, service, and effective communication with magistrates, law enforcement agencies, and courts.
- System Oversight: Monitor and ensure the accuracy of entries in NCIC and JNET systems, maintain necessary reports, paperwork, and audits for multiple agencies including Millcreek Police, Erie International Airport, and Presque Isle Police.
- Cross-agency Communication: Act as a liaison for communications between local, state, and federal agencies.
- Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned.
Candidate Qualifications:
- APCO Public Safety Telecommunicator (PST1) and Instructor-level certifications; Communications Training Officer certification (or the ability to obtain within one year).
- Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) 911 Supervisor certification (or the ability to obtain).
- Incident Command System (ICS) 100 and 700 or higher certification (or the ability to obtain).
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Ability to obtain NCIC, CLEAN, and JNET clearance prior to employment.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of progressively responsible experience in dispatching or a related field.
- Successful completion of a background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening.
