About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Correctional Officer to join our team at Mille Lacs County, MN. As a key member of our Sheriff's Office, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of our jail facility and its inhabitants.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe and secure operation of the jail facility, including monitoring inmate activity and controlling access.
- Perform daily operations, including conducting cell block checks, interacting with inmates, and stocking supplies.
- Orient new inmates on procedures and expected behavior within the facility.
- Relocate inmates to avoid repeat confrontations and maintain order within the facility.
- Monitor movement within and outside the facility, including phone communications and emergency response.
Requirements
- A high school diploma and two years of experience working in a law enforcement or correctional setting.
- Proficiency in computer skills and ability to operate security systems.
- Ability to work swing shifts, nights, holidays, and weekends with short notice.
- Willingness to work in a secure facility with inmates who have been charged with violent offenses.
