Summary
The Kitchen Supervisor ensures that the kitchen department runs smoothly and ensures all staff adhere to safety regulations. Organize the kitchen processes to maintain high quality, efficiency, and profitability. Train and manage the kitchen team in a manner that meets objectives set forth by the Nutrition Services Manager.
Job Duties

- Provide leadership to food service workers and cooks in performance of their assigned duties.*
- Oversee the quality and quantity of food preparation on a daily basis.*
- Assist in shift coverage as needed.*
- Support manager in staff supervision and conflict resolution.*
- Oversees the rotation of food products, FIFO stock program. Oversees the nutrition services coordinator in inventory controls.
- Develop a waste management program for portion controls and food waste.*
- Ensure customer satisfaction through means of communication with employees and departments.*
- Assist with training staff, identifying staff needs, and communicating with manager in improvements to department.*
- Assist with catering needs as determined by the manager.*
- Work cooperatively with other department supervisors to ensure department is up to code for MDH license.*
- Attend all mandatory staff meeting and huddles.*
- Complete and keep up to date all necessary certifications and/or licenses.*
- Assume leadership responsibilities in absence of manager.*
- Responsible to rotate on call cooperatively, as determined by manager on weekends.*
- Perform payroll function in manager's absence. *

Required Education and Experience
- Food Manager Certification
- 3 years experience in Kitchen Management
Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience in an institutional setting
- Catering experience
- Associate degree or equivalent culinary training experience

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Monday through Friday, rotating shifts and rotating weekends and holidays.
Supervisory Responsibility
Support manager in staff supervision and conflict resolution. Assume leadership responsibilities in absence of manager.
Salary : $22 - $32
