Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in hospice care, medication administration, and behavior management.
Duties:
- Assist individuals with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating
- Administer medications following proper protocols
- Implement behavior management techniques to support individuals' emotional and social well-being
- Assist with banking and budgeting and assist with shopping, when applicable.
- Plan, assist, and participate in community outings with individuals (e.g. visiting family, friends, church/temple, shopping etc.).
- Maintain living environment in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) and health department standards.
Completes all required DDA training, including but not limited to CPR/First Aid, MANDT, Medication Administration Certification
- Ensure residents' rights are respected and upheld
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses, to ensure comprehensive care
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of resident information
Requirements:
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities
- Knowledge of medication administration systems
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and resident rights
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Certification in Direct Support or related field is a plus
