Position Overview:
The Food Safety and Quality Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and quality of food products produced by the company. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) management within the food industry. The Food Safety and Quality Manager will be responsible for leading and managing various FSQA programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving continuous improvement in quality and food safety.
Requirements:
1. 5 years of FSQA Management Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of hands-on experience in managing Food Safety and Quality Assurance in the food industry, demonstrating a deep understanding of industry standards and best practices.
2. SQF or BRC Experience: Familiarity with and experience in implementing Safe Quality Food (SQF) or British Retail Consortium (BRC) standards is essential to ensure the highest level of food safety and quality. Certified SQF Practitioner preferred
3. Strong HACCP Experience: Proficiency in Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) principles is required to develop, implement, and maintain effective food safety programs. HACCP Certified preferred.
4. PCQI, Internal Auditing & Food Defense Certified preferred.
5. Bilingual Spanish (Plus): Being bilingual in Spanish is a valuable asset, as it can facilitate communication with a diverse workforce and assist in interacting with Spanish-speaking stakeholders.
6. Stable Job History: A consistent and stable job history, preferably with a track record of long-term employment in FSQA management roles, is preferred.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead GFSI and Other FSQA Programs: Take charge of implementing and managing Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and other relevant FSQA programs to achieve and maintain facility certifications.
2. Manage and Mentor Quality Personnel: Oversee and mentor quality personnel, ensuring they are well-trained and capable of executing quality and food safety procedures effectively.
3. Ensure Compliance: Ensure that quality and food safety procedures are consistently followed throughout the production process, from raw materials to finished products.
4. Interact with Regulatory and Customer Inspectors: Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies (e.g., FDA, PADAG), certification bodies (e.g., SQF), and customer inspectors, facilitating inspections and addressing any compliance issues.
5. Pest Management and Sanitation: Manage the pest management program and sanitation program to maintain a hygienic and safe working environment.
6. Audit Readiness: Ensure the plant is always audit-ready, with all documentation and processes in compliance with the company's quality management program and food safety procedures.
7. Quality and Food Safety Development: Oversee the development, documentation creation, implementation, training, and ongoing improvement of quality and food safety programs.
8. Lead the investigation of all quality related issues and corrective/preventative actions through the CAPA program.
9. Performance Tracking and Improvement: Continuously track, report, and review quality performance indicators, using this data to drive continuous improvement initiatives in quality and food safety.
