What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Clerk ( Port Charlotte) position at Millennium Physician Group?
Millennium Physician Group is seeking to hire a PRN Medical Clerk to join the Medical Office team in Saint Augustine, FL. We are looking for a new team member who is positive, energetic, well-organized, has the ability to multi-task, and think outside of the box. The Medical Clerk supports the Certified Medical Assistants, ARNP and physician in all aspects of patient care under their supervision. S/he is responsible for collection, communication and documentation of accurate patient information. The medical clerk performs phone triage of patient questions/concerns using protocol to determine level of physician or nurse response required. Additional responsibilities include download and review of incoming test reports, maintaining the pharmacy calls, coordinating requests for prescription refills per protocol, scheduling outpatient procedures, referral appointments, outpatient testing and other diagnostic appointments as directed. The medical clerk processes patient letters, forms and other documentation as need by patients, prepares charts for the next day's appointments, maintains HIPAA privacy restrictions. The medical clerk may room patients and take vitals if they assist with keeping physician and nurse on time. All other duties as assigned.
Job Standards:
- CMA preferred, may be LPN
- Completes all clerk tasks timely/daily
- No Prescription/Medication Errors
- Periodic Audit shows no errors in documentation
- Returns patient calls timely
- Handles authorizations/referrals timely/daily
- Charts are prepared and ready for physician and patient as directed by Care Team Coordinator
- Provides exemplary patient experience for all patients

Required Knowledge and Experience
- Completed a Medical Assisting Program/Completion of Certification or Registration
- CPR/BLS certification
- Ability to type at minimum 40 WPM
- All certification received, e.g. CMA, CPR, BLS, etc. must be kept current
Required Skills and Abilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong computer skills and knowledge of EMR systems; Athena knowledge preferred but not required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb and balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
