Job Title: Overwrap Operator
Job Summary: Operate and monitor overwrap equipment while ensuring quality control, accurate documentation, and adherence to production standards. Maintain clear communication, follow procedures, and contribute to a collaborative and safety-focused work environment.
Location: Durham, NC - Weck
What You'll Do:
- Machine Operation: Run and monitor overwrap equipment with accuracy and care.
- Quality Assurance: Perform checks on feeders, sealing, film registration, and product specs; pull QA samples to confirm counts and expansion.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records in Kiosk and Enterprise systems, including job jackets and production tracking.
- Pre-Production Prep: Verify job info, perform feeder checks, and confirm product specifications before starting runs.
- Process Monitoring: Continuously ensure proper sealing, film registration, and correct SKUs during production.
- Line Management: Clear production lines properly at job completion.
- Equipment & Calibration: Conduct scale checks and calibrate equipment as needed.
- Communication: Keep supervisors informed of shift details, concerns, and issues.
- Compliance: Follow all quality procedures and work instructions throughout operations.

- Technical Skills: Experience with overwrap or related packaging machinery.

How You Will Be Successful
- Communication: Effectively relay job requirements and specifications to your team to ensure smooth operations and successful project completion.
- Action-Oriented: Proactively address challenges, such as material discrepancies or mechanical issues, to avoid production delays.
- Teamwork: Work closely with other team members, including the Press Operator and warehouse staff, to ensure consistent quality and efficiency in printing operations.
- Attention to Detail: Take pride in your work by ensuring 100% accuracy in product setup, material handling, and press operations.
- Continuous Improvement: Look for opportunities to streamline the press setup and printing processes, contributing to both efficiency and quality improvement.
What to Expect in the Workplace
- Physical Demands: Perform tasks such as carrying, lifting, bending, and standing for long periods. You may need to push, pull, lift, or carry up to 50 pounds occasionally, and up to 25 pounds frequently.
- Work Environment: Primarily in a manufacturing plant with temperature extremes, moderate noise levels, and moving equipment. Work indoors and outdoors in varied weather conditions (heat, cold, wet, and dry).
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): You will be required to wear PPE, such as ear protection, eye protection, safety shoes, and a high-visibility vest, as necessary.
- Frequent Movement: Use of hands, arms, and wrists in controlled movements. Walking between work areas and using electronic devices and office equipment will be part of your day-to-day tasks.
