Under general supervision, develops and implements programs, practices and procedures to reduce the frequency and severity of accidents and injuries; ensures compliance with federal, state and local safety regulations ensures compliance with partner company safety suggestions, promotes safety culture through safety training, risk assessments and audit programs.


Responsibilities

  • Planning/organizational skills
  • Ability to implement and control a safety program
  • Ability to conduct safety inspections of equipment, operations, vehicles, building & grounds
  • Personal computer literacy
  • Knowledge of Global Harmonization Standard and SDS chemical safety requirements
  • 25-30% travel
  • Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or six months to one year related experience and/or training preferably in OSHA related standards; or equivalent combination of education or experience
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, manuals, operational procedures, and work instructions
  • Must have the ability to write work instruction, process procedures, safety standards, routine reports and correspondence when required
  • Must also be able to speak effectively before groups of employees, contractors or visitors when required
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations when required
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs when required
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Ability to perform data entry, and use various personal computer software (Microsoft Windows, Excel) to prepare and maintain reports and records in an automated environment
  • SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (Licenses, certifications, etc.)
  • Acquires necessary personal safety certifications and OSHA required training to qualify to perform safety duties
  • Completion of 30-hour OSHA training,

  • Must be able to handle stressful situations at times, must work well with all departments and team members
  • Employee must be able to manage multiple tasks at various times
