SUMMARY: Develops, coordinates and manages all operational functions in the Operations Department. Ensures continuous improvement of safety, quality, productivity and financial performance of all steel processing units.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
· Monitors safety, quality and productivity of Blanking/Slitting/Warehouse
· Ensures establishment and maintenance of work instructions, process procedures and standards for Operations functions
· Provides leadership for the continuous improvement program (kaizen)
· Interface between the Operations department and other Millennium departments
· Being proactive when handling emails from Millennium departments and /or outside customers
· Monitors and directs all problem solving and improvement activities
· Assists in preparing processing targets, objectives and budget
· Analyzes the actual performance of the Operations teams in relation to submitted objectives and targets
· Purchases and controls supplies for Warehouse/Slitter/Blanker Operations
· Solves problems and develops cost saving solutions
- Trains, reviews and disciplines employees in the Operations departments
· Educates team members as necessary
· Prepares monthly reports
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Manages all department employees. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Operations department.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, resolving problems, and meeting deadlines from upper management during stressful situations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED or Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field; with five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Core training should include; but not limited to:

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, policies, operational procedures, process controls, standards and work instructions. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to use various personal computer software (Microsoft Windows, MS Office). Management and Operations related training.
