- Work closely with quants, portfolio managers, risk managers and other engineers in the US, London, Singapore, and Bangalore to develop data intensive and multi-asset analytics for our Fixed Income, Risk, and Commodities businesses
- Gather requirements and user feedback in collaboration with fellow engineers and project leads
- Drive decisions around enterprise database technology options and implementation across on premise and cloud data centers
- Provide expertise, guidance, and support on a variety of database platforms for end users and developers, including data model reviews, query and system performance tuning, and general troubleshooting
- Define and enforce database standards and best practices for database design and development and data security
- Review and upgrade database maintenance processes and monitoring and alerting capabilities in accordance with best practices
- Work closely with DevOps to build new tools and automation around data pipelines, system maintenance tasks, data integrity checks, and the collection of and reporting on database meta data
- Support users and operational flows for quantitative risk, senior management and portfolio management teams using the latest database technology
- Stay abreast of industry trends, new platforms and tools, and coming up with a business case to adopt new technologies
- Advance degree in computer science or any other scientific fields
- 8 years of hands-on DBA experience in a both an operational and database development capacity
- In-depth experience with database administration for Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB
- Secondary experience and knowledge with data warehouse platforms such as Snowflake, Redshift, Kinetica, Vertica, and distributed processing technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Flink, Spark)
- Experience with cloud databases in the AWS and GCP ecosystems
- Experience matching business requirements with appropriate database solutions
- Hands-on experience designing schema and data access patterns for high performance, high throughput systems
- Experience with database performance tools that capture database metrics and query analytics such as Solarwinds, Redgate, or Quest
- Experience working on at least one monitoring/observability stack such as Datadog, ELK, Splunk, Loki, or Grafana
- Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for on premise and cloud databases
- Experience with virtualization platforms and Storage Area Network (SAN) technologies
- Experience with reporting/visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI
- Experience in writing automation scripts, building application dashboards for proactive monitoring using PowerShell, Python scripting or similar technologies, ability to debug and optimize code and automate routine tasks
- Experience with Unix or Linux
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders
- Quick learner, detail oriented; Demonstrable thoroughness and strong ownership of work
- Good team player with a strong willingness to participate and help others
- Able to prioritize and work independently in a fast moving, high pressure, constantly changing environment; High sense of urgency
- Exposure in developing web applications using the Flask framework
- Exposure to and basic understanding of designing and implementing RESTful APIs
- Knowledge of Windows Clustering, Windows Services, and Windows Server Configuration knowledge
- Experience with a messaging middleware platform like Solace, Kafka or RabbitMQ
Salary : $175,000 - $250,000
