JOB DESCRIPTION :

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated IT Specialist (Helpdesk & Administrator) to join our team. The IT Specialist serves as a hybrid role, combining helpdesk support with systems administration responsibilities to ensure smooth IT operations for Miller Refrigeration and Miller Construction Services. This position balances troubleshooting user issues with maintaining and improving the company’s IT infrastructure.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Manage and maintain server environments, including hardware, software, and cloud-based systems.
  • Configure and monitor network systems, firewalls, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Implement and enforce IT security protocols and best practices, ensuring compliance with security standards.
  • Document IT processes, procedures, and resolutions for knowledge sharing.
  • Perform regular system backups and disaster recovery planning.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve networking issues, including connectivity and configuration.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers for procurement and technical support.
  • Support IT infrastructure projects, including upgrades and migrations.
  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access across systems, including Office 365 and Active Directory.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding employees, including hardware setup and access provisioning.
  • Other duties as assigned

ROLE REQUIRMENTS : Education :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A , Network , or Microsoft Certified : Modern Desktop Administrator / Azure Administrator preferred.
  • Experience :

  • 3-5 years of combined experience in IT helpdesk and systems administration, preferably in a multi-site or field-based environment.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting and resolving Tier 1 & Tier 2 technical issues across hardware, software, and networks.
  • Hands-on experience managing Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and user access permissions.
  • Experience supporting and administering Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams) and troubleshooting related issues.
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining enterprise hardware, including servers, network switches, and storage devices.
  • Experience providing remote IT support for field employees, job sites, or offsite staff using remote desktop tools.
  • Experience maintaining backup and disaster recovery solutions, ensuring system reliability and data protection.
  • Skills & Competencies :

  • Familiarity with basic network administration, including configuring routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices, including user access control, phishing awareness, and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (e.g., TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs).
  • Familiarity with cloud computing solutions (Azure, AWS) and hybrid environments.
  • Familiarity with helpdesk ticketing systems, including tracking, documenting, and prioritizing support requests.
  • Ability to provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support, troubleshooting escalated technical issues for end-users and resolving system-wide problems.
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate technical solutions clearly to non-technical users.
  • Ability to create and maintain IT documentation, including user guides, troubleshooting steps, and network diagrams.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
  • Teamwork orientation and collaborative nature.
  • Work Environment :

    This position is based onsite at our Rosedale office, M-F. As a family-owned company, we provide a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where teamwork and collaboration are key.
