Title: Project Executive – Northern Michigan

Primary Function: Provides overall executive level oversight and guidance for one or more construction project teams and serves as the primary corporate contact on those projects.

Typical Duties:

  • Represents corporate interests in all project-related matters.
  • Supervises the project management and field staff assigned to his/her projects, including day-to-day oversite of items such as timesheets, time off requests, etc.
  • Guides the professional development of the members of the project team and serves as mentor for less experienced project staff.
  • Participates in the Construction Operations Team and Staffing meetings as needed.
  • Oversees and reviews project management staff in preparation of subcontracts.
  • Assists with the hiring and assignment of project staff as needed.
  • Participates in performance reviews of project staff as appropriate.
  • Assists the development and implementation of improved project management services and technology.
  • Checks for consistency of project management procedures and work product.
  • Provides leadership and active participation in project management and field training.
  • Monitors the implementation of the Miller Davis Company Safety Program and safety regulation compliance on assigned projects.
  • Participates in business development efforts and leads sales presentation teams.
  • Monitors and controls job costs.
  • Oversees the implementation of sustainable construction procedures.
  • Responsible for completing projects within time, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Lead efforts to promote local subcontractor engagement.
  • First six months requires minimum three (3) days a week onsite at Northern Michigan projects.
  • Consults with Project Executive – Field Operations and Safety Manager on field activities
  • Reports to Chief Operating Officer.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Demonstrated maturity and strict adherence to Company procedures and core values of servant leadership, leading by example, and working collaboratively with everyone
  • Prior construction experience including at least 10 years as project manager, project superintendent, or other relevant project leadership experience
  • Complete understanding of construction agreements, terms, and conditions and risk management techniques
  • Exceptional problem solving, leadership, and oral and written communications skills
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships with clients and Company employees
  • Professional appearance, well groomed, prompt, dependable, and responsive
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction, or related curricula, or relevant experience
  • Proven experience in the use of computer technology for project management, including spreadsheets, word processing, scheduling, cost accounting, and document management
  • LEED and/or other professional accreditations desired
