What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cafeteria Aide position at Miller-Driscoll?
Seeking cafe aide 5 days per week, 10:30-1:30 at Miller-Driscoll. $17 per hour
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience/education working with children
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of school safety plans and evacuation process.
- Knowledge of food service operations.
- Knowledge of basic first aid and health regulations.
JOB SUMMARY: To establish and maintain a pleasant, safe and efficient atmosphere in the school cafeteria and at recess.
REPORTS TO: Principal or designee
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor student behavior and ensure proper conduct in the lunchroom and/or at playtime.
- Ensure that all lunchroom rules and processes are adhered to by students.
- Monitor seating for students with special needs or allergies.
- Encourage peaceful resolution of conflicts between students.
- When necessary, reports disciplinary concerns to building administration or teacher.
- Organize students into orderly lines for the purchase of food, disposal of wastes and for dismissal from the cafeteria.
- In case of any emergency or drill, properly manage the evacuation of students following the school safety plan guidelines. For Shelter-In-Place situations, follow guidelines to ensure the safety of students and staff members.
- Organizes group games and activities as needed, or monitor individual playtime.
- Assumes responsibility for play equipment as needed.
- Evaluate student injuries, determines course of action, perform emergency first aid when necessary and completes required district paperwork as appropriate.
- Reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards immediately to supervisor.
- Demonstrate regular attendance and punctuality.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by school administration.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to be physically active with the children at all locations of program: playground, gym and in the cafeteria.
- Able to quickly and efficiently move children throughout program activities, school building or outside areas as necessary for emergency purposes.
- Able to communicate verbally, hear, and understand elementary-aged children.
- Able to sit on the floor or at cafeteria tables with students.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Hourly position for school calendar year.
