Job Summary:
Miller Electric, an ITW company, is seeking a skilled and experienced Journeyman Tool & Die Maker to join our manufacturing team in the Components Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, repairing, and maintaining tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and other precision components used in our production processes. You will work closely with engineers, machinists, and other team members to ensure that all parts and assemblies meet exact specifications and are produced efficiently.
NOTE: This position will train on 1st shift. Once training is complete, the role will transition to a split 2nd shift schedule, starting during 1st shift hours and extending into 2nd shift (e.g., 12 PM - 8 PM).

Key Responsibilities
- Design, construct, repair, and maintain complex tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges according to blueprints, sketches, and CAD models.
- Set up and operate various machines (e.g., lathes, grinders, milling machines, etc.) to perform precision machining, cutting, and shaping operations.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with dies and tools, making necessary adjustments and repairs to ensure optimal performance and production efficiency.
- Inspect and test completed tools and dies to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Collaborate with engineers and production teams to refine designs, suggest improvements, and optimize tool and die performance.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and modifications of tools and dies.
- Monitor tool and die wear and proactively plan for refurbishments or replacements.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Train and mentor junior machinists and apprentices as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Certification: Journeyman certification in Tool & Die Making or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Tool & Die Maker in a manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in blueprint reading, CAD/CAM software, and the use of precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges).
- Machining Expertise: Extensive experience operating and programming CNC machines and other toolroom equipment.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate technical information clearly.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 40 lbs.), stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Experience with continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma).
- Experience with MS Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word)
