Smith Equipment, a Miller Electric Mfg. company, is seeking a Maintenance Technician. In this role you will work closely with the maintenance team and operators to troubleshoot repairs and perform preventative maintenance on machinery throughout the facility.
How You Will Make An Impact
- Maintain and control the plant machinery, building and equipment preventative maintenance program.
- Maintain and repair production equipment, building, facilities, etc. as requested. Maintain and repair electrical equipment such as PLC’s, CNCs, and associated electrical controls.
- Contact and work with outside technical service providers.
- Fabricate parts, equipment, carts, racks, fixtures, etc., as requested.
- Add, alter or repair such items as air lines, plumbing lines, electrical lines, etc.
- Identify building, equipment or safety problems and take corrective action.
- Performs work in a safe manner by following all safety rules and ensures that proper safety equipment is used (including machine guards).
- Seeks and recommends ways to eliminate potential quality problems, to improve procedures and methods, to increase department and division productivity using data collection and problem-solving tools.
- Maintains maintenance records per established procedures.
- Supports the department team and continuous improvement concepts by suggesting changes/ improvements of setups and processes. Assists in documentation and control of these processes in accordance with established policies/procedures.
Technical Skills
- Troubleshooting Expertise: Possess mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic/hydraulic troubleshooting and repair skills to maintain equipment efficiency.
- Mechanical Knowledge: Understand mechanical drive systems, bearing maintenance, and replacement procedures.
- Workplace Safety: Ability to work at heights using proper safety equipment and protocols.
- Technical Proficiency: Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and prints accurately.
- Equipment Operation: Utilize test and measurement tools such as multimeters, calipers, and micrometers effectively.
- Electrical Systems: Experience with PLCs, VFDs, and electrical control systems is a plus.
- Strong Interpersonal Skills: Must be a team player and self-starter with the ability to work independently. Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with operators, engineers, and non-technical personnel.
- Positive Attitude: Maintain a professional, team-oriented mindset with a strong work ethic.
- Continuous Learning: Willingness to pursue further education and skill development.
- Independent Work Ethic: Self-directed with the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Analytical Thinking: Apply logical reasoning and problem-solving skills to analyze and resolve complex issues.
- Multitasking Ability: Capable of managing multiple tasks and addressing various issues simultaneously.
- Position requires 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
