The Leadership Development (LD) Manager is responsible for building a learning environment at Miller Kaplan to support all employees in the pursuit of our employee-value proposition of “it’s not a job…it’s an opportunity.” This role manages the firm’s leadership development function to continually focus on helping the firm become a “learning organization,” and acts as a Champion to support every person in the firm as the architect of their own development. The role reports to the Director of People & Culture.
In collaboration with subject-matter experts, the Leadership Development Manager serves in a consultative role to facilitate the design, development, and delivery of various learning and development activities throughout the firm. Accountable for management of multiple projects and communication to stakeholders. Acts as a vital member of firmwide project teams and participate as an active member of the Administration team.

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Act as coach and mentor to employees in the function.
- Handle onboarding, training, discipline, and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Oversee the daily workflow of the function.
- Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Leadership: 40%
- Complete all assigned training courses within the stated timelines.
- Contribute to strategic planning efforts as a member of the People & Culture team.
- Demonstrate and facilitate the use of the firm values: Listen, Plan, Support, Adapt.
- Listen, then advise to act as coach and consultant to employees and managers on their own development and that of their staff.
- Participate as a presenter in new hire orientation.
- Participate in committees as appropriate, such as the DEI Committee.
- Adhere to established style and design guidelines to create training materials, facilitator guides, job aids, and user guides in support of firm initiatives.
- Author and maintain eLearning courses that engage learners and promote skill development.
- Collaborate with subject-matter experts to design, develop, maintain, and support the delivery of firmwide and function-specific development activities, continuing professional education (CPE) offerings, and compliance training.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to obtain access to external development resources as needed.
- Consult with stakeholders to assess performance gaps and identify appropriate solutions.
- Coordinate onboarding course assignments.
- Establish and uphold the standards required for granting of continuing professional education (CPE) credit on internal courses.
- Facilitate meetings and development activities as appropriate.
- Provide training support on firm change initiatives.
- Administer the learning management system, including publishing and maintenance of courses, course assignments, and progress reporting.
- Communicate announcements and status updates to employees, managers, and partners.
- Establish and follow department policies and procedures.
- Establish and maintain vendor relationships necessary to provide development activities to the firm.
- Establish and uphold the standards for instructional design of learning activities.
- Maintain and enhance the department pages on The Hub.
- Provide support in the management of applicable budget items.
- Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management (or related field of study) or combination of education and experience.
- 5 years of experience in curriculum design and development.
- 5 years of experience facilitating learning experiences, both in person and using virtual platforms such as Teams or Zoom.
- 3 years of experience using Articulate 360 to author and publish eLearning courses.
- 2 years of experience managing a learning function.
- 2 years of experience administering a Learning Management System (LMS).
- Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD) designation through the Association for Talent Development.
- Experience authoring intranet pages.
- Experience in financial services.
- Experience working with the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) requirements of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) and the various states in which the firm is licensed to do business.
- Able to be an active team member or leader on projects.
- Able to think critically and creatively solve problems.
- Able to work independently.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply adult learning principles.
- Knowledge of and experience using instructional design principles.
