Land Survey - Survey Party Chief

Job Description Job Description Miller Legg, a family oriented and award winning multi-disciplinary consulting firm, is seeking an experienced full-time Land Surveyor - Party Chief to join the Survey Department in its Miami-Dade Office located in Sweetwater, FL.Responsibilities include supervising a field survey crew of 2 or 3, performing construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey tasks. We are looking for a candidate who is organized and detail oriented and will work with the office surveyor to make sure that the job is thoroughly planned and that the crew is properly prepared for a safe, efficient and successful day. The ideal candidate has previous experience on various types of projects and can oversee and provide excellent quality control and constructive feedback to the project team. The ability to train survey crew members on using surveying equipment and tools to facilitate the survey task in the safest, most accurate and most efficient manner is critical. Great communication skills are required as the party chief is the liaison between the field and the office and has the important task of communicating progress, challenges, unforeseen conditions and opportunities to add value to the project. Also, great communication is required to ensure that the crew knows and understands what is expected of them, risks they may face on the job and what safety measures they need to perform, the amount of time is going to be required for the task and feedback on their performance.Qualifications include experience operating survey instruments, requisitioning supplies for the field and a valid driver’s license.
