Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse
Description:
A skilled healthcare professional provides nursing care to residents under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, assisting with the care of those who are acutely and chronically ill. This work is technical in nature and governed by the policies and procedures of our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organizes and implements resident care plans in collaboration with our senior nursing staff.
- Takes charge of administering various forms of patient elimination, including bedpan use, enemas, catheterization, and Foley catheter insertion.
- Collects specimens for testing, such as urine, stool, sputum, and cultures.
- Prepares residents for meals, assists with serving and feeding, and administers gastric feeding as needed.
- Monitors and records intake and output, taking note of any discrepancies.
- Tracks and records vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
- Reports any deviations from normal to the Registered Nurse on duty.
- Maintains watch over intravenous infusions and removes needles as directed by the RN, applying dressings as necessary.
- Accurately observes and records the results of treatments and nursing care on resident records.
- Notifies the RN of any observable changes in a resident's condition or other pertinent information.
- Collaborates with the RN in providing care for residents requiring advanced nursing skills.
- Carries out delegated tasks as part of the nursing care plan.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an approved school of Practical Nursing and passage of the State Board Examination.
- Licensure to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Georgia.
- Ongoing certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
