Miller Place Animal Hospital is a privately owned, full service facility that is 50 yr AAHA Accredited. We are looking to add a full time licensed New York State Licensed Veterinary Technician to our team. Our goals at MPAH are to provide the best care to our patients, while understanding the owners needs in a positive and helpful manner. Our ideal candidate must be loving of all animals, motivated, quick thinking, professional, and friendly. We are one big family, helping each other where help may be needed throughout our day and have a zero drama policy. MPAH is rapidly growing and expanding. We will need LVTs to come and help support our community while practicing the best and latest medicine. This is a Head Technician position and holds a lot of opportunities to expand to the right candidate. We are predominantly a cat and dog hospital.
You will have the opportunity to reach your full potential as a Veterinary Technician performing all technical responsibilities to provide quality patient care.
Intravenous catheter placement and venipuncture
Administer drugs (IV, SQ, Oral). Induction, Intubation and maintaining anesthesia during our procedures
Assists with radiographic procedures
Perform diagnostic blood, urine, and fecal testing
Provide care to hospitalized patients
Manage invoicing of patients and record keeping both written and computer based. We are currently using Avimark and transitioning to paperless records with Pulse by Covetrus.
Client communication and education
Admitting, discharging patients and discussing blood work and treatments with our clients. History taking and setting up appointments.

Requirements
Must hold a current NYS License for: Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or the Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician (LVMT)
Eligibility for licensing accepted and may be paid for by Employer as part of benefits
General knowledge of instruments and supplies
The ideal candidate is skilled, organized, caring and has a desire to be part of a growing veterinary practice that is a crucial component of a continuum of care that supports long-term relationships between companion animals and people
High school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education, and/or experience
Two or more years of experience with veterinary appointments performing above duties (a plus)
Able to perform moderately physically demanding work, that requires lifting (up to 50 pounds), cleaning, and constant motion
Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors
Salary : $25 - $35
