Refrigeration Service Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Miller Refrigeration INC., is seeking a skilled Refrigeration Service Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills and experience in diagnosing and repairing commercial refrigeration systems. This position focuses on diagnosing and resolving issues with refrigeration units, ensuring systems run efficiently and reliably. You will work on a variety of equipment, including walk-in coolers, freezers, ice makers, and remote refrigeration systems.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Identify and troubleshoot issues with refrigeration systems, including electrical, mechanical, and cooling system components.
• Perform necessary repairs on refrigeration systems, such as replacing faulty parts, fixing leaks, repairing wiring, and restoring proper functionality.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance and extend the life of the equipment.
• Safely handle refrigerants, including recovery, recycling, and recharging systems according to industry standards and regulations.
• Perform inspections of refrigeration equipment to assess condition, identify potential issues, and recommend solutions.
• Provide clear communication with customers regarding system issues, repairs, and maintenance needs. Offer explanations on the work performed and educate clients on how to maintain their systems.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and work completed.
• Ensure all repairs and services comply with local, state, and federal codes and regulations, including safety standards.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of tools, equipment, and protective gear.
• Other duties as assigned.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

• High School Diploma required.
• Associates or trade certification preferred.

Experience:

• 5 years of commercial refrigeration service experience including experience with remote systems and walk-in units.
• Experience troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical systems.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of refrigeration components, electrical systems, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to handle refrigerants and follow proper procedures for refrigerant recovery, recycling, and recharging.
• Familiarity with using diagnostic tools, gauges, and other testing equipment to troubleshoot and repair systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair HVAC package/split systems up to 10 tons
• Ability to read and understand an electrical schematic
• Knowledge and ability to use tools including but not limited to:
• Hand tools, PPE, Vacuum pump, Electronic leak detector, torch (turbo or oxy/acetylene).
• Clean driving record required.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Proficient in using electronic devices such as cell phones, tablets, and laptops for communication, documentation, and accessing job-related information.
• Computer literacy required.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
• Teamwork orientation.

Physical/Mental Requirements:

• Possess excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal skills with the ability to multitask several projects at once.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to handle stressful situations.
• Self-motivated, reliable, and accountable individual
• Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs.
• Must be confident in the operation of ladders, scissor lifts, pallet jacks or other devices as needed.
• Job requires full body mobility.
• Must be able to work safely in varied environments around hazardous commercial equipment.

Work Environment:

• This position requires the ability to work in a variety of settings, including commercial kitchens, warehouses, and industrial facilities.
• Exposure to cold environments and varying weather conditions.
• The role may require occasional overtime or weekend work to meet client needs or project deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour
