What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher position at Miller's Run School?
The Kingdom East School District seeks a licensed (or eligible) special educator assigned to the Miller’s Run School. This is a 1.0 FTE position (anticipated) starting in August, 2025. This position provides direct instruction to students and consultation to classroom teachers serving learners with special needs. In addition to the consultative role, this position provides leadership in the facilitation and development of effective individualized education programs (IEPs) and the coordination of related services designed to support student growth and achievement. The position requires applicants to possess a thorough understanding of special education law, cognitive/social emotional development, IEP development and classroom interventions within a tiered system of supportive instruction. The Miller’s Run School is team-oriented and operates under a Professional Learning Communities (PLC) model. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are also required.
The Miller’s Run School is part of the Kingdom East School District and is located in the heart of a vibrant community in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. We operate seven preK-8th grade schools ranging from 60 to 500 students. Our high school students have “choice” and may opt to attend one of the traditional independent schools -- Lyndon Institute or St. Johnsbury Academy -- or another high school of their choosing.
