Miller School of Albemarle seeks an enthusiastic and knowledgeable English teacher to join our faculty for the 2025-26 school year. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with younger students and would be comfortable co-teaching an 8th-grade Humanities course with a member of our History department. The ideal candidate will be willing to work as a team player and actively participate in the vibrant Miller School community. A candidate should be inspired by the mission of Miller School and embrace the opportunity to serve as an example of our “mind, hands, and heart” philosophy for our students.
Outside the classroom, the position includes two seasons of coaching a sport and/or leading a co-curricular activity, acting as an advisor to a group of 7-8 students, and serving on a supervisory duty team.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A bachelor’s degree in English; a postgraduate degree is a plus but not required.
- Experience teaching a variety of English courses is required; experience teaching 8th-grade English is desired but not required.
- Experience teaching the fundamentals of writing and grammar to developing young writers.
- Experience co-teaching a class is desired but not required.
- A passion for working with young people, coupled with a commitment to meeting the needs of diverse learners.
- Relevant athletic or cocurricular experience that will contribute meaningfully to MSA’s after-school programming.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
