The School of Social Work is accepting applications for a Practicum Director. The successful candidate will work with undergraduate and graduate Social Worker students at Millersville University of Pennsylvania as they prepare to enter field placements. They will have the responsibility for the ongoing management of all factors related to field responsibilities during the placements.

Duties and Responsibilities The BASW / MSW Practicum Director will work with the Department Chair and respective program coordinators to ensure adequate delivery of the field practicum at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The primary responsibilities of the Practicum Director are :
Maintain compliance with CSWE standards and quality of practicum experience.Screen, review, and approve agencies for practicum according to established standards and criteria for agency selection.Receive and process agency requests for student practica.Explore new agencies to satisfy special learning needs of students and special program developments.Develop and maintain professional working relationships with agencies.Screen, review, and approve the field instructors designated by the approved agencies.Mediate the students’ selection of an agency for practicum.Meet with each student as part of a group and / or individually to review expectations and to review the student’s learning needs.Mediate the choice of the student by considering interests and assessed needs of the students and the resources of available agencies. Maintenance of agency information files for students’ use is part of this responsibility.Direct student to agencies for interviews. If a choice is not approved, direct student to other agencies within program guidelines.Act as mediator to resolve any initial concerns or questions between the agency and student.Present the practicum assignments to the MU-SU MSW faculty.Confirm final arrangements between the student and the agency.Collect students’ completed Contact Forms and all additional placement paperwork to approve and confirm placement.Complete the Affiliation Agreement with Agency.Update BASW Practicum Manual.Update MSW Practicum Manual in conjunction with SU MSW Field Coordinator.Ensure students obtain necessary documents to enter practicum and maintain student files.Conduct Professionalism workshops to prepare students for expectations of practicum.Arrange Orientations for students and practicum liaisons to discuss practicum expectations.Arrange ongoing trainings for practicum liaisons, site supervisors, and students that address practicum-related issues.Coordinate payment of stipends for BASW Site Supervisors.Some online or technology enhanced teaching, travel and evening work may be required.Required Qualifications
Master’s degree from a CSWE-accredited social work program.Experience coordinating, teaching, or supervising field in a CSWE-accredited program.Five years post-MSW professional social work practice experience.Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds within a diverse environment.Successful interview.Successful completion of three background checks.Preferred Qualifications
Social work license.Experience teaching BSW and MSW courses.Experience teaching electronically facilitated courses.Experience as Field Coordinator / Director at the BSW and MSW level.Social work practice experience in south central Pennsylvania.
