Primary Duties: Operate Cards to produce high quality sliver and perform necessary cleaning.
Tools Required: Hand roller picker, steel toe shoes, OSHA approved air nozzle for compressed air, respirator, safety glasses, brush, ear plugs, and broom.
Materials Used: Empty cans, ID bands.
Supervision Exercised: None; receives instructions from Supervisor or Shift Lead Person. Shift Technician to provide follow-up.
Job Procedures:
- Follow all established Plant Safety rules.
- Repair end breaks, tags, and other quality concerns.
- Maintain proper bales feeding bend line hoppers and ensure properly fed.
- Doff full cans of sliver and place empty can in can changer.
- Identify blend by placing correct ID band color on cans.
- Capture any suspected off-quality sliver. Identify with a Non-Conformance sheet, move to the Non-Conformance area next to the Yarn Mill Lab, and report to Technician, Shift Lead Person, or Supervisor.
- Patrol job and inspect for any tags in the sliver path and remove them to ensure high quality sliver is produced.
- Perform shift cleaning to ensure high quality sliver is produced.
- Align and straighten full and empty card cans in the storage area during your shift and at the end of your shift.
- Place waste in proper containers.
- Perform all other duties as directed by management.
Minimum Job Requirements: Must be able to read and write. Must have basic math skills. Must be cleared by Occupational Nurse for vision and color vision.
Follow all Safety Rules and comply with the Job Safety & Health Analysis (JSHA). All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be used as required. Any accident or near miss must be reported immediately.
