What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warper Machine Operator position at Milliken Chemical?

Primary Duties: The Warper Operator repairs stops, records warper stops on production sheet, doffs section beams, performs necessary clerical work, counts ends and ties off on beam, checks creels with black light, and makes inspections/observations while the beam is running. Clean/repair damaged or off quality packages.
Tools Required: Scissors, hoist, warp truck, clipboard, pen, reed hook, calculator, goggles/safety glasses, dust mask, creel ladder, utility knife, cut resistant gloves, OSHA approved air nozzle for compressed air, steel toe shoes, ear plugs, and brooms.
Materials Used: Warp yarn, Warper Production Sheet, ID tags (wire-tie tickets), tape, markers, and section beams.
Supervision Exercised: None; receives instructions from the Weaving Department Manager.

Job Procedures
- Follow all established Plant Safety rules.
- Check number of ends running compared to scheduled number of ends, make adjustments as needed.
- Inspect hoist; record findings on the daily hoist checklist form.
- Obtain empty bream from rack storage area for next beam.
- Repair warper stops; record stops on production sheet and beam ticket.
- Doff beam
- Start up next beam and check for proper alignment of comb to beam.
- Check planning schedule and yarn available to determine which style to run next.
- Turn creel at creel-out.
- Lace ends through stop motion and pull to the Lindley comb.
- Lay ends into the Lindley and the Warper comb.
- Load new beam into the warper head.
- Wrap yarn ends around the beam and prepare to startup; re-set yardage counter.
- Start up new beam and double check for correct comb to beam alignment.
- Inspect and observe the beam for high quality while it is running.
- Perform all necessary clerical work.
- Operate Backwinder: creel creel-outs into magazine, service yellow buttons, doff full packages and start new cone, place full cones on a pin truck or in a box as instructed by Supervisor/Lead Person, pull pneumatic waste, and place empty cones in the proper storage container.
- Maintain good housekeeping around the Warper.
- Perform all other duties as directed by management.
